About Sherry

Sherry Mendelson is a writer and psychiatrist based in Southern California.

Her writing has been published in The Wall Street Journal, Brevity Non-fiction Blog, Litro Magazine, The Jewish Journal, Wilderness House Literary Review, The Antigonish Review, The Braid (formerly Jewish Women’s Theatre), and has been performed on stage by The Braid.

She graduated from the University of California San Francisco School of Medicine in 1977 and finished her psychiatric residency at UCSF Langley Porter Institute in 1981. She worked as Chief Resident at that institution from 1981-82 and as an Assistant Clinical Professor at San Francisco General Hospital from 1982-83.

She has been in the private practice of psychiatry since 1983.

Psychiatric publications include “Clinical Evaluation of Grief after Parental Death,” published in Psychotherapy, Volume 22/Summer 1985/Number 2.

She lives in the Los Angeles area with her family.
